Dr. Amirkianoosh (Kiano) Kiani is the founder of Silicon Hall and an Associate Professor of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at Ontario Tech University. His work integrates advanced manufacturing, energy-storage engineering, and AI/QML-driven predictive analytics to deliver practical, high-impact industrial solutions.
He is the creator of ULPING, a novel ultra-short laser pulse nanofabrication method used to engineer micro/nano structures, 3D networks, and high-performance materials for batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen systems, and quantum technologies.
Dr. Kiani’s research program focuses on energy-storage materials and device fabrication, including advanced nano-material-based electrode fabrication, with applications in clean energy and next-generation power systems.
He also develops machine learning and quantum machine learning models for state-of-health prediction, lifetime forecasting, early-failure detection, and process optimization in both energy-storage systems and manufacturing operations.
Dr. Kiani collaborates extensively with industry and government partners, advancing technologies in clean tech, smart manufacturing, and high-performance materials.
Dr. Mehrnaz Shokrollahi is an award-winning data science leader with deep expertise in building and scaling AI-driven solutions. She has held senior leadership roles in the FinTech sector, where she has led teams in transforming complex data into reliable and impactful AI products. Her career has also spanned industries including healthcare and manufacturing.
Dr. Shokrollahi earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University, focusing on biomedical signal analysis. Her work has been widely recognized; she was named one of the Top 25 Women in AI: Canada Edition (2022) and one of the Top 30 Influential Women Advancing AI (2020).
She is a passionate advocate for women in STEM and actively involved in the tech community, including holding leadership roles at IEEE. Dr. Shokrollahi's proven track record in both research and industrial application makes her a leader in the field of applied artificial intelligence.
